If I can't make a negative comment about Madonna's performance during the Superbowl

because it would be considered sexist and ageist, then feminism in this country is kind of f**ed. I was about to make a few jokes about Madonna's horrendous performance on the Superbowl (cheerleaders? LUV Madonna? It looked like a SNL parody, in my opinion), but I saw a few sites were they were attacking people critizicing Madonna as an example if sexism and ageism (no, I'm not linking, you can find them yourself). I'm sure a lot of the attacks were sexist and ageist. But her performance was embarrassing, sorry. The cheerleading thing, the backup dancers dresses as nuns (reminded me of Sister Act). I'll keep the jokes to myself, though. I don't want to be politically incorrect. And by the way, I've been making fun of the Rolling Stones for the past 25 years. So I am equally opportunity. Whatever...i made the mistake of watching the last half of the game. I should have taking an Aderall to deal with those commercials. They gave me a headache, and now I'm grumpy. And tomorrow I have to teach "gustar" to first month SPAN 101 students. If you know Spanish, you know only an idiot could put that lesson on the second chapter of the textbook. Blehhh...

  1. Wow. Maybe my expectations are so low for Super Bowl halftime shows that I'm no critic at all. But somehow the combination of beginning with the gay anthem "Vogue," and using those awesome dancers (someone told me Madonna injured herself during rehearsals, which explains some of the shakiness) next to her, including the great tightrope dancer, and the totally whack "World Peace" lit up at the very end -- it was so over the top that I kinda loved it.

And let's remember that usually the show is some decrepit band like Aerosmith. So hey, a gay icon like Madonna seems all good to me.

  2. Honestly, all I could think was that if she was going to step into Cher territory, she should have taken a few tips from Cher, who does it ten times better. The problem with Madonna is that she takes herself too seriously.I think this is the third half time show I watched: last year the Black Eyed Peas were mediocre, and the previous year The Who would have been Ok had it not been for sound issues.

  3. I couldn't get past how stiff her dancing was compared to the younger bunch on the stage and how many times she almost fell flat on her everything

  5. MIA was ten times better, and I had no clue of who she was until after the performance.
I teach Adelante Uno. Not my choice.
